I have twenty years of leadership and management experience in the Education public sector which includes senior leadership in schools, and as Principal Adviser and School Improvement Partner for a Local Authority. I’ve raised a family and been a long-time sole carer for a family member suffering from dementia. My coaching draws on this breadth of experience and the learning and understanding derived from it.
BA Honours; PGCE; NPQH; Association for Coaching accredited Executive Coach; NLP Diploma.
I’m based in Waterlooville, near Portsmouth. My coaching can be face-to-face, geography permitting, or remote by Zoom.
I tailor my coaching to what you want and need, not fit you into a ‘one-size fits all’ programme. Your values, knowledge, culture, context and experience will all be taken into account so that I coach the ‘whole’ you, rather than just one aspect of you.
You’ll be able to think, feel and say what you want, safe in the knowledge that you’ll be listened to – and heard – without being judged, or ‘labelled’. Sessions will be completely confidential in accordance with legal and health regulations, and ethical in accordance with the coaching profession’s global ethical code.
I coach with warmth, compassion and a firm belief in your ability to succeed, but I’d be letting you down if I didn’t coach with ‘backbone’ as well as ‘heart’. If sometimes I question your thinking or suggest that you might need to look at things from a different perspective, my level of challenge will always be within boundaries we’ve agreed at the start of every session.
We’ll begin with a free meeting in which we’ll agree how – and if – you’d like me to work with you. You’ll tell me what you hope to gain from the coaching and how much challenge and support you’d like. If you’re happy to go ahead after that meeting, we’ll contract for a number of sessions, and agree payment terms and conditions. If at any time in the programme either of us is unhappy, we’re free to end the relationship.
I’ll draw up an outline plan for your approval. However, if you’re having several sessions, you can expect that as our relationship develops, there’ll be a natural progression from session to session, so we’ll remain flexible in the face of any changes in your circumstances or goals.
Coaching conversations are different from ordinary, everyday conversations, although of course there will be some normal conversation at the beginning and end of sessions. Once the coaching begins, most of the talking should be done by you. My job is to listen carefully, ask open questions and find ways to help you think differently. If you choose a slightly more directive style of coaching, I won’t tell you what to do, but I can signpost teaching episodes and then ask you whether the information/learning is helpful and if so, how.
